Absolutely love this backpack... plenty of pockets to store stuff (a couple with zips for secure storage). Plenty of room to put jacket, hat, gloves, scarf etc.

Use: Almost everyday for 5.5 years. Commuting by bicycle. Traveling by plane, train, boats, and foot. City and wilderness.
Smith Roll Pack has been well suited to my lifestyle, and I have 30+ years of experience (not including elementary school). The spacious side pockets, water resistance, hook and loop quick releases, book/computer slot, sturdy top handle, loops on shoulder straps, and size made it an extremely utilitarian accessory.
The material at the base is tearing, and the repair guy I consulted said his machine would not be able to affix a leather patch, so it is in its final stages.
Cons/Suggestions:
1. TEARING fabric at base
2. Main compartment inner pockets could be simplified. The outermost pocket splays into the main compartment and can interfere with packing and unpacking.
3. Snug at the nape of my nape (will vary with anatomy)
4. No attachment sites at base (see picture- I had professional repurpose the waist strap into loop attachments at base). Note that tearing unrelated to the modification.
5. Limited back breathability (semi-arid, sub-tropical climate inhabitant)
If you could strengthen the bottom, I would wear it again.

Great pack, many possibilities and pocket's. Comfortable. Only for the price expected it to last longer. After 4,5 years, the bottom definitely teared open. It started to be thin already since a year, but now there’re thee holes in the bottom. My stuff will fall out now; need a new one. Sustainably-wise it’s in the end not the best option in that sense.
