Are Millican Bags Waterproof?

When choosing a backpack, one of the first questions people ask is simple: is it waterproof? After all, nobody wants wet kit on the trail, the commute, or a weekend away. The short answer for Millican is: our bags are weatherproof, water-resistant, and built to handle real life outdoors.

Water-resistant by design

Our bags are made with fabrics that combine recycled plastic, natural fibres and sustainable coatings. Each collection is slightly different, but all use PFAS-free water-repellent (C0 DWR) finishes, combined with PU coatings that add extra resistance. This means your bag will happily deal with rain, drizzle and the occasional downpour.

All our current materials can be found here.

Waterproof vs. Weatherproof

It’s important to draw the line between waterproof and weatherproof. Our bags are not dry bags – they’re not made for submersion in rivers or hours in torrential downpours without extra cover. Instead, they’re designed for daily adventures, travel, hiking and commuting, and are built to keep your gear dry through everyday weather.

For the journey

Every Millican bag has a purpose. From fabrics woven out of post-consumer waste to PFAS-free coatings, they’re made to tread lightly while keeping up with whatever you throw at them. The Smith Roll Pack, the Core Roll, or the older Dalton Canvas models. Whichever you choose, you’re carrying something tough, sustainable, and reliably weather-resistant.

In short: Our bags are weatherproof companions, made from recycled and responsible materials, designed to protect your belongings from the rain while standing the test of time.
