Built with plenty of pockets and clever storage solutions, it’s geared towards a life on the move. From walking trails and weekend escapes to Wainwright-bagging and bike-commuting, this backpack will be steadily by your side for it all. Smith the Original Roll is designed to offer flexibility and versatility. Featuring fully adjustable, padded, ergonomic shoulder straps with removable waist and sternum straps it’s ideal for cycling, hiking, and a whole host of active pursuits, adapting to wherever the journey takes you. The concealed, easy-access padded laptop compartment makes it perfect for commuting. An external, hidden zip pocket keeps your valuables safe and secure, along with an internal key ring. The large front pocket with an internal organiser, along with two stretch side pockets, means you have easy access to your essentials on the go, while multiple internal organiser compartments keep your bits and bobs in order.
A roll-top closure creates extra space when you need it, pushing the boundaries of its 25L name, whilst allowing you to pack it smaller when you’re travelling light. It truly is our go-anywhere, do-anything bag - and a firm favourite for a reason.
When re-engineering the Smith Original Roll, we searched high and low for the perfect fabric and were thrilled to discover existing unused stock of the original Bionic® cotton canvas. Used to create the first Smith Roll bags, we’ve now had the opportunity to restore them with their intended fabric.
The Bionic® canvas perfectly blends recycled post-consumer plastic and natural cotton. It’s free from PFAS and uses PFC-free C0 water-repellent coating. With sustainability at the core of what we try to create, the opportunity to bring back Smith the Original Roll without requiring the production of new fabric was too good to pass up. We love the result, we hope you will too.

- Lining: Durable lightweight weave, using 100% recycled & recyclable PET made from post-consumer waste
- Buckles: Ultra-premium aluminium Trimmers buckles
- Webbing: Durable high-grade polyester webbing
- Zips: YKK
- Trim: Leather
- Made in China in our responsibly-run and independently-audited factory – SA8000 compliant, adhering to the highest social standards
